Welcome to My Digital Space

In an era dominated by social media platforms, I’ve chosen to maintain my own corner of the internet. This is my personal home on the web—a place where I share my thoughts, projects, and passions. Browse around, and feel free to return as I continue to expand and evolve this space.

About Me

The Philosophy Behind This Site

Why maintain a personal website when social media platforms dominate our digital lives? The answer is simple: I find genuine joy in the creative process of building and experimenting with web technologies. Working with content management systems, exploring new frameworks, and crafting unique designs brings me satisfaction that goes far beyond simply posting content.

Truth be told, I’ve rebuilt this site from scratch multiple times—sometimes by choice, sometimes out of necessity when experiments went awry. But that’s part of the adventure. The journey of creating and refining the framework itself is often more rewarding than filling it with content.

A Note on Language

While Norwegian is my native tongue, I’ve opted to present this website primarily in English. Maintaining a bilingual site proved too demanding, though you’ll still find some older blog entries in Norwegian. I should mention that this site is optimized for desktop viewing—while it works on mobile devices, the full design experience truly shines on a proper monitor.

Who I Am

I’m someone who embraces life with optimism and curiosity, regardless of what comes my way. My interests span computer science, culinary arts, political discourse, and outdoor adventures. These passions shape the content you’ll find throughout this site.

Beyond the Website

I also maintain a YouTube channel dedicated primarily to Buekorps—one of my deepest passions. If you’re curious about this unique Norwegian tradition, I invite you to explore my channel.

My Passions

Three subjects captivate me above all others: Buekorps, Linux, and Gnosticism. These themes weave through my blog posts and project pages, though I also explore whatever else sparks my curiosity along the way.

🎺

Buekorps

The traditional boys’ brigades of Bergen represent a cultural heritage that holds deep personal significance for me.

🐧

Linux

Open-source philosophy, system architecture, and the freedom that comes with truly owning your computing experience.

📚

Gnosticism

Ancient wisdom traditions and alternative perspectives on early Christian spirituality fascinate me endlessly.

⚖️

Politics

Contemporary issues, social dynamics, and political philosophy—though perhaps not as all-consuming as my Facebook presence might suggest!

Sandviken 1840 – My Childhood Neighborhood

A Technical Journey

Over the years, I’ve experimented with various content management systems. I spent considerable time with Concrete5, appreciating its design flexibility, though ultimately finding it less stable than WordPress. After switching web hosts, I returned to Concrete5 briefly, but eventually settled back with WordPress.

WordPress has evolved significantly, now offering the intuitive building experience I once found only in Concrete5, while maintaining its renowned stability and extensive plugin ecosystem. This combination makes it the ideal platform for my ongoing experiments.

I encourage you to explore the other sections of this site. I continually add new pages as inspiration strikes and ideas develop. Below, you’ll find a lithograph of Sandviken—a district of Bergen where I spent my first eight years, though this image captures the area from a much earlier era.
